The following is a rough list of personas in the IPFS ecosystem. This list is by no means exhaustive

Personas

• Protocol developers / Implementors / Engineers
  • These are contributors to the protocol/specs and developers building IPFS implementations
  • e.g. Mauve, EngRes developers, Rüdiger, Iroh team
• Researchers / Scientists - two kinds
  • Researchers conducting research on the IPFS network,
    • e.g. ProbeLab - Yiannis, Dennis
  • Researchers conducting research and interested in publishing it publicly using IPFS

• Operators
  • Companies and individuals running IPFS infrastructure
  • e.g. Cloudflare, Infura, Pinata
• Developers/app builders - can be divided into two sub groups:
  • Web3 developers
    • These are developers that are familiar with some of the Web3 space and smart contract platforms. e.g. Snapshot
  • Web2 developer
    • These are seasoned web/full-stack developers familiar with modern web2 development tooling, three-tier architecture, relational/noSQL DBs, and the serverless paradigm. Typically they’re optimising for productivity.
• Altruists - fans of the protocol
  • e.g. Winterhuman and some other active community members
• Creators & Web3 curious
  • These are not very technical but typically have a good grip on cultural trends and the overlap between
  • e.g. the NFT crowd,
